Terry Hitt

Terry Hitt has served as the General Manager of the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, a TPG Hotel, since June of 2005. After his first year of leadership, the hotel received recognition as “most improved guest service” from TPG. He has worked in the hospitality field since 1984 serving as General Manager for the Jacksonville Marriott, the Palm Beach Marriott, the Richmond Marriott and the Omaha Marriott. He began his career as Director of Finance for Crestline Hotels and Resorts. Terry’s greatest strengths are his commitment and experience. Terry uses his financial and sales skills in combination with his dedication to customer service in his day-to-day activities.

Terry earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Berry College, Mt. Berry, Georgia. He was named General Manager of the Year by HSMAI while working in Florida. He also received national recognition from Marriott International for GM most demonstrating Marriott Service Culture.

Despite his demanding and busy career, Terry has made time to be on the Board of Directors of several industry organizations. Currently he serves on the board of the NHMA, NCVB and HRCC Trustee.

Terry lives in Olde Towne Portsmouth with his wife, Yvonne.
